OCPP Plugfests
The Open Charge Alliance is all about sharing knowledge of open standards in general and OCPP in particular. Therefore we organize OCPP Plugfests for versions 1.6 and 2.0.1. During these events you will be able to test your OCPP Charging Stations (CS) and\or Charging Stations Management Systems (CSMS) with others all over the world. In two-day round the clock events gives everyone anywhere in the world a chance to participate.
We try to host two OCPP 1.6 and two OCPP 2.0.1 Plugfests each year. Please check out our website regularly, become an OCA member or register for our OCA news letter.
If you want to join; Watch this!
We have made a webinar available as Youtube-video in which we describe the process of joining the Plugfest. From connectivity testing to actually participating with you implementation.
If you want to join; Read this!
The Plugfests are free of charge, but in return we want you to come prepared. We have implemented a mandatory connectivity test and we want to make sure that everyone has the best possible testing experience.
The following instructions will be sent to you if you register, please read them carefully.
1. Connectivity test week before the PlugFest (mandatory)
Before participating in the PlugFest, a short connectivity test will be performed between an OCA test system and your implementation. Based on feedback from participants from previous PlugFests, we want to prevent companies from struggling only with connectivity issues without getting to actual OCPP testing. Therefore, a short (mandatory) connectivity test will be executed by an OCA Technical Editor that must be passed. The connectivity tests will take place in the week before the Plugfest. Dates for these connectivity tests will be given after your registration.
Please note: Participation in the Plugfest is only possible after passing the connectivity test!
During the connectivity test as well as during the PlugFest itself, we need the information to connect to the system that you will be using during the PlugFest. Please fill in your connectivity information in the Connectivity Sheet that will be provided after your registration.
If you have registered as a CSMS:
- Please provide the connectivity information and make your testing system available before the final week before the Plugfest.
- At the start of the connectivity test you will be contacted via Slack by an OCA Technical Editor.
- The OCA Technical Editor will try to setup a websocket connection to your system using their test system and try to send at least one message.
- Once this is done successfully, you have passed the Connectivity Test and you will be added to the PlugFest planning.
If you have registered as a Charging Station:
- Please provide the connectivity information and make your testing system available before before the final week before the Plugfest.
- At the start of the connectivity test you will be contacted via Slack by an OCA Technical Editor.
- The OCA Technical Editor will ask you to setup a websocket connection to the OCA testing system and to try to send at least one message. You can find the connectivity information to the OCA testing system in the connectivity sheet.
- Once this is done successfully, you have passed the Connectivity Test and you will be added to the PlugFest planning.
2. Testing with OCTT (optional and not available every Plugfest)
Additional testing options for testing with the OCPP Compliance Testing Tool (OCTT) are available:
Participants that do not have the OCTT will be given the opportunity to have a test slot with an OCA Technical Editor with the OCTT . This way you can:
- Get familiar with the testing tool, which is also used in the certification program
- Get a first impression of your readiness for certification
Participants that already have the OCTT will be given the opportunity to have a test slot with one of the official OCA test laboratories. This way you can:
- Get familiar with certification testing
- Get the opportunity to ask questions about the certification testing / program
3. Testing Application Note: Using ISO 15118 Plug & Charge with OCPP 1.6 (optional)
During some OCPP 1.6 Plugfests you will have the opportunity to register for a test slot for testing the Application Note: Using ISO 15118 Plug & Charge with OCPP 1.6 (v1.0, 2020-09-16). The test slots will take place on the two days of the PlugFest and will consist of test slots for companies that have implemented this Application Note.
